Human Potential - hearing... by Paul Lowe

"Those who have ears, let them hear."

And its not that simple.
Most of us do not even listen - let alone hear.
Trouble is, we think we do.
And we 'know' what thought did.

Also: "Blessed are the meek..."

Not wishy washy drippy meek - just not arrogant.
And as a species, meek we are not.
Arrogant we are. Very.

At one time we thought we were the centre of the universe,
everything revolved around us,
and the only more important aspect in creation was God -
and even then - We were/are made in His Image.
(Many people still think in this way.)

I do realise that I keep reiterating - not knowing.
Most of the things we 'knew' not so long ago are just a laugh now.
Yet we keep thinking: "Now we know."

We all have have a very strong facility to empathise.
Although we all have this facility, is it not utilised very much.
Serial killers, torturers, the military, corporate heads, religious
leaders, most politicians, and many others - not utilised at all.

As the new scientific researches are showing,
we do not operate the way we thought we did.
Our brain works in a very different way than our mind thinks it works.
Very well worth checking out on the web the latest discoveries.
What you will discover is that - we know very, very little about ourselves,
and how we function.

Just briefly, without going into all the details again.
When we hear something, our brain goes to its memory to see if it has the
information already stored. Not having to process afresh saves energy.

So when people speak to us we are not tuning in to them, our brain is
tuning into itself - to see if it already has that information.
So most of the time, we we are not hearing the other, we are hearing
ourselves.

For instance, if you say something about size to a person who works with
an electron microscope, it is most likely you are both talking/thinking on
a totally different scale.

So talking about something, you say, "It was very small."
Small means one thing to you, and something totally different to the
operator of the electron microscope.

Please, slow down, and let this in.
There are machines that are capable of inscribing the total works of every
book in
every library in the world - on the tip of the ball of a ball point pen!
Is your brain handling that? Mine doesn't. And I love it.

If a leading theoretical physicist attempts to share his advance
discoveries with a junior class at school, not only will they not be able
to follow what he is attempting to share, they will not even understand
the language he is using.

Maybe familiar words, but with a much larger spectrum of meaning.
So not only do they not understand, they cannot - they do not have the
experience of the level of brain capacity, let alone information, on which
to base any conclusion.

So most people, most of the time, are behaving in an arrogant way.
"I see it this way, therefor, it is this way. End of discussion."
Except that it is not the end of the discussion - because the other person
is thinking the same way!

Check it out. Almost everything that appears on our media screens contains
conflict. And the stronger the conflict the more it is likely to have our
attention. And as we get used to the level - like any addiction, in order
to keep our
attention - it has to be stepped up.

Once again - experiment. Listen, let it in, and do not agree, or disagree.
If the information moves you in any way - one way or the other, take what
is said as a hypothesis, and experiment.
It may be that you are not as knowledgable as you assumed.

More later...
Paul
